By Faith: Christians In Real Estate Birthed

Christians In Real Estate (CIRE) was formed in 1996 with the intent to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with professionals in the real estate and related industries.

Christians In Real Estate was inspired and birthed through the prompting of the Holy Spirit to Jerry Young, the Founder of Christians In Real Estate, also known as CIRE.

The original founders were Jerry Young, Clayton Tom and Joe Paikai. As Joe recalls, in 1995 both he and Jerry were inspired by the Lord to form a group of Christian real estate agents. The founders didn’t know what it looked like, but they were clear it would be for Christians in the real estate industry. During the birthing of CIRE our real industry was struggling, and the time was right for help from God, who prompted this group to grow over the ensuing years.

After functioning for three years as a private endeavor, Christians In Real Estate was established as a 501 (c)(3) in January 1999. The core team members of CIRE began meeting with consultants Dennis Bunda and Steve McPeek to develop a strategic plan to grow the organization. CIRE Directors and members at that time were: Ruth Komatsu, Sam Underwood, Joyce Miura, Jane Noe, Hanne Larue, Bruce Hicks, Caydie Sitch, Elizabeth Garcia and Valerie Sorensen.

By faith, not knowing what the group would look like or where they would go with it, they were Spiritually prompted to form a group that would share the Lord with one another and help each other. The first lunch held was not intended to be a hosted event, but by the moving of the Holy Spirit a guest stepped forward and paid for the lunch. The first event welcomed 12 guests, including Joe, Clayton, Jerry and others. The group then produced CIRE’s vision and mission to which we adhere today. Hence, Christians in Real Estate was birthed.

Tribute to Jerry S. C. Young, Founder of Christians In Real Estate

Aloha my name is Elizabeth G. Garcia, President of Christians In Real Estate.

On behalf of CIRE, we would like to share our memorial tribute for the founder of Christians In Real Estate Jerry S. C. Young.

CIRE is short for Christians In Real Estate which was birthed by a FAITH seed.

In 1997, the Lord placed on Jerry's heart to start a real estate fellowship group that would be able to share our Christian faith and values in the real estate marketplace.
By FAITH, the Lord had Jerry place an inconspicuous 3 line ad in the newspaper.
Joe and others responded to the ad.
By FAITH, the first lunch took place in Maple gardens with 12 attendees. A prominent real estate broker sponsored the lunch, guest speakers were Jerry and Joe.
By FAITH, Jerry, Clayton and Joe, sought legal help to file for a 501 (c) (3) non profit status.
By FAITH, non profit status was granted in 1999.
It's been 24 years since then and the FAITH seed newspaper ad Jerry placed has continued to flourish.
By FAITH, in 2015 Jerry stepped down from CIRE Events to wait on the Lord for his next calling.
We miss Jerry's leadership but know, by FAITH we trust God to continue to lead CIRE to do his will. Because of the FAITH seed Jerry planted, CIRE had networked with thousands of people who attended Christians In Real Estate annual functions over the years.
By FAITH and as the Lord leads, Jerry's vision for CIRE to be a global organization has yet to be seen.

To the Young family, we thank you for sharing your husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother in Christ, CIRE says thank you.
